RICHARD THERIAULT
RETIRED DIRECTOR, BBWE
Rich Theriault, retired instrumental director of the Bristol Brass & Wind Ensemble, has been a music educator, conductor, and performer for 55+ years. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from Western Connecticut State University. The Band has benefited greatly from its 15-year association with Rich as a talented musician and instrumental director. Under his baton, the Bristol Brass & Wind Ensemble has presented annual winter and spring concerts, veterans' concerts as well as various other performances for the Bristol community. The group has performed with the Travelers Chorale at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts and has traveled to New York for their annual Lake George summer competition. Rich has been a guest conductor and adjudicator for numerous regional music festivals sponsored by the Connecticut Music Educators Association, musical director of the 102nd Army National Guard Band, the 2013 recipient of the ACE Award for contributions to art and culture in the Bristol community, the 1993 Teacher of the Year in the City of Bristol, and musical director of the Bristol Chorale. A professional saxophone player, Rich frequently performs with jazz ensembles and big bands. He resides in Bristol with his wife Jane.
